Mystery Knitalong Errata/FAQ

General Mystery KAL

Where is the clue?

Ravlery:

It comes as an email from the Ravelry system. It’s a pattern update, so check your PayPal email.

It is one of the very last links in the email. Down below my name. I can’t change that – just the way the system is built. I also can’t change that the email goes to your PayPal email address.

If the pattern is not in your Ravelry Library, please follow the directions below to put it there. It makes it less likely you will have a glitch and you can also check the library directly for updates.

PayHip

You entered an email during checkout. That’s the email the system sends the updates to. Check your junk filters, and email me if you don’t get the update – please tell me the email you used if it isn’t the same one you’re sending from.

If you don’t have your update an hour or two after 9am Central Daylight Time, check your junk mail filter in the email you use for PayPal, and check your Ravelry library.

If that doesn’t work, contact me. Ideally with your PayPal email address and Ravelry Username if applicable. With both I can usually figure out the system. Ravelry glitches are most prevalent in Clue 1.

I didn’t get a PM or My pattern isn’t in my library so I can’t refresh it to get the upload. You will only have the pattern in Ravelry if you bought it there.
If you did, make sure your file is in your Ravelry library. If you weren’t logged in when you bought the pattern, the pattern wasn’t tied to your username. There are two ways to add it: either go to the purchase email and click the ‘add to library’ link at the very bottom, or go to the purchases section of your Ravelry notebook and follow the process there.

It can take an hour or so for Ravelry to roll out the updates so the system doesn’t crash. You can look in your library to see if there is an Update button and manually get the update that way.

Clue 1

Rows 7-28: using either the written directions (this page) or the chart (Pg. 5), work the Faux Embroidery (22 rows) and then set the work aside for the next clue - 81 sts

Clue 3

I prefer a different short row method. Can I do that instead?
Absolutely.

Can I do a 3-needle bind-off instead of grafting?

Sure. I’d do it with the right sides together with the bind off ridge on the wrong side.

Clue 4

Round 24: (k to 2 sts before m, k2tog) four times around - 4 sts dec

Clue 5

Do we really start with C3, same colour as clue 4?
Yes.

The video shows just folding the brim back, while the pattern says to fold 1/3 of the hat back.
This is about making space to work and being comfortable. Do whatever works best for you, your yarn, and this particular hat size.
